START 2014 I OPENED MY VERY OWN SHOP CALLED 'TINA HJELM' / JEWELLERY AND SITUATED AT STORE STRANDSTRÆDE, NYHAVN, COPENHAGEN
Nyhavn has a lovely historic colorful and quirky charm which attracts Copenhageners as well as visitors from abroad.
With the door open I can hear the sounds of Nyhavn with the buzzing of happy people and music. And when the queen's guard passes by my shop windows I fully agree with the famous illustration of 'Wonderful Copenhagen' where traffic happily stops to let a duck and her ducklings safely cross the street.
The street Store Strandstraede, where my shop is located is starting to take character of an upper-end shopping street with designers acknowledged both in Denmark and internationally opening shops. It is an exciting development for the future of this street and happily it seems to keep the quirky charm of the neighborhood.
In the midst of this I have my fantastic combined shop and workshop where I test new ideas, develop and make new jewellery, welcome new as well as returning customers and meet with my wonderful neighbours for a coffee in the afternoon sun outside the shop.
Well that can only make for happy harmonious jewellery :)
I am humble and happily surprised for the reception of my jewellery. I have got customers from all over the world announcing their delight of my jewellery, which they say have found no match anywhere else.
I believe the universal appeal of my jewellery lies in my approach to how I make the jewellery. I work from the core of my inner and let the design and it's visual expression form during the process - often as 'i just want to see what happens if I do this .....'
Contrary to most jewellery making, this way of working results in a less controlled expression and make way for a new technical detail or a unique visual fingerprint which you do not get in mass production.
